Shangri-La Gallery Hosts Leadership Houston For Reception
Shangri-La Art Gallery hosted Leadership Houston for an exclusive wine and cheese reception on February 7. The gallery provided a unique venue for the group, who enjoyed the Indian art on display, as well as the Indian themed event.
Leadership Houston was founded in 1981 by the Houston Chamber of Commerce as its leadership development ‘arm’ in the community. The program has 50 participants every year, and through seminars and experiences that develop and enhance individual, organizational and civic leadership skills. Each month the class members are exposed to a different issue facing the leaders of Houston – education, the arts, social justice, health and human services, the environment, government, and the economy. Each member also learns more about his/her personal style and ways to use this knowledge to be more effective as leaders in their own organizations as well as the broader Houston community. In the current year of 2007-08, the only Indian-American who is participating in the program is Jagdip Ahluwalia, Executive Director of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce.
Shangri -La art gallery has been set up in a 3,000 square foot space and is host to Houston’s 1st Permanent Contemporary Indian art collection. The Gallery is located at 2801 W. Sam Houston Pkwy N, Ste 188, adjacent to EZ tag Building - Southbound on Beltway 8 West between Hammerly & Ke mpwood ( north of I-10.) Houston 77043. The gallery is open 6 days a week from Tuesday to Sunday.
