COLORS OF INDIA – A Discovery of Local Indian Talent
Shangri-La Art Gallery has announced a Group art show for local artists of Indian origin. The show is called “Colors of India – A Discovery of local Indian talent”. The show has been sponsored and supported by the India Culture Center (ICC), Houston.
The Gallery is providing a unique opportunity to local Artists to exhibit their
art at this prestigious setting, at absolutely no cost. It will be of great
benefit to Houston’s Indian American community and artists to display their work of art, and get recognition and visibility. Its aim is to encourage artists who do professional quality art to showcase their work.
According to Atul Vir, Principal of Shangri-La Art Gallery, “Although the main focus of the gallery is investment-grade contemporary art, during the last few months a number of local Indian-American artists living in Houston have approached us with a request to display their art. Indian art is quite unique and artists have a challenge in being accepted by mainstream galleries to exhibit their art. Therefore, we, as part of our social responsibility to promote and encourage local Indian artists, are stepping up and have decided to host a special event for this purpose.”
Shangri-La art gallery has been set up in a 3,000 square foot showroom and
opened for business in November 2007. The gallery, said by many to be the finest
art gallery in Houston, is professionally outfitted with Solux lights, and is
host to Houston’s first Permanent Contemporary Indian art collection. The Gallery is conveniently located at 2801 W. Sam Houston Pkwy N, Ste 188, adjacent to EZ tag Building - Southbound on Beltway 8 West between Hammerly & Kempwood ( north of I-10.) Houston 77043. The gallery is open 6 days a week from Tuesday to Sunday.
